NEW ALBUM FINISHED!!!
Our self-titled full-length is finally done!!! 12 tracks, our best recording to date. We're really proud of it. Its due out later this summer and despite our gigging and recording schedules in NYC we will be supporting it's release in the fall. More info soon, for now we need to disconnect the album from our nervous systems.

NEW RECORD ALMOST FINISHED
We're 90% done with the new record. 14 tracks, 12 are new, and two are new recordings of previously released songs ('And So My Troubles Began' and 'Carbon Freeze'). We decided to redo these two songs because we always felt like they deserved to be released with better versions than what was on our previous E.P.s. Other songs are from our live set, such as 'Paused Upon the Rewind' and 'Insomnia,' and about half the record is brand-new material. Most of the basics were tracked live to 2" tape, with our usual sonic additions added in Pro Tools. As expected, this record is taking far longer than anticipated to finish. 2004 was a busy year for us. Not to worry, we have an April 1st deadline to turn in the completed CD and artwork over to our new label, thereby forcing us to wrap this up shortly. More info coming soon.

THE NEGATONES REMIX CHUCK D!
Blues Explosion asked Jay to produce and mix another track for their forthcoming remix EP. The track is a remix of the song 'Hot Gossip' from the 'Damage' LP with vocals by Chuck D (Public Enemy). The remix also features Justin on bass, Jun on vibraphone, Jesse on percussion, and Jay on minimoog, thus making the Negatones the only band in the world to simultaneously backup Chuck D and JSBX. |

BLUES EXPLOSION RELEASE 'DAMAGE' FEATURING JAY AND JESSE
This album includes the instrumental 'Rivals,' produced and mixed by Jay, and featuring Jesse on conga and Jay on keys. Jay shares productioon credit on this album with notables DJ Shadow, Dan the Automator (Handsome Boy Modelling School), and David Holmes (Oceans Eleven Soundtrack). After Blues Explosion enthusiastically accepted the Jay's rough mix of 'Rivals' (no other mix was even made!), BX drummer Russel Simmins remarked "You produced the shit out of that track."

NEGATONES AT WORK ON NEW RECORD
After supporting the re-release of Snacktronica in the spring, (and mostly taking the summer off) we're back at work on our album previously started with Josh Wilbur (Producer/Engineer, Busta Rhymes, Limp Bizkit). Josh is off working with GGGarth (Producer, Rage Against the Machine) and Peter Collins (Producer, Rush), and we're filling in the gaps. Unlike Snacktronica, most of the rhythm tracks were recorded live and we didn't loop anything. There's still the usual synthesizers, electronics, and recording bells and whistles of our previous releases, but it sounds much more like a rock band tripping balls. We'll hopefully be done by winter. |

JAY PRODUCES TRACK FOR THE JON SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION
After working with Judah Bauer on his solo record 'Life Doesn't Rhyme,' Jay was honored to be reccomended to produce a track for JSBX's forthcoming album. After meting with the band, Jay was given the instrumental 'Rivals' to produce and mix. After arranging, culling, and editing the original 10-minute jam down to two furious minutes at the Negatone's studio, Jay added minimoog and string patches, trumpet, bari and alto sax by the Porn Horns, and conga by Jesse. In typical Negatones fasion, the track is 'sort of an 'electronic-Stooges-Blaxploitation-Surf-Middle Eastern number.' |

JUSTIN ON TOUR IN EUROPE PLAYING BASS FOR ADAM GREEN
Rough Trade artist Adam Green, formerly of Moldy Peaches, has recruited Justin to play bass in his band for his April tour of Europe. The mostly-accoustic band will be playing larger halls in England and throughout Western Europe, and features opening act Eugene (formerly with the Vaselines) |

BRAUN BROTHERS RECORD TRACKS WITH FIERY FURNACES
In unusually symmetrical occurences, the Braun Brothers were each commissioned to record covers with the Freidberger siblings, Matt and Elanor, collectively the Fiery Furnaces. At the Negatone's studio, Justin recorded the Clash's 'Ghetto Defendant' and Jay recorded Junior Kimbrough's 'I'm Leaving You' for compilations by Uncut Magazine and Fat Possum, respectively. Each recording took a day and the results of both are really interesting, unique and sonic renditions of the original songs. A good time was had by all. |

SNACKTRONICA DEBUTS CMJ #2 MOST ADDED US & CANADA
Beating out the Heavy EP's debut at #10 Most Added, Snacktronica came in shy of the #1 Most Added slot just one Add behind Dreamworks' act AFI. We're also pretty shocked to report that we've been added into rotation on more staions than current releases by the Flaming Lips, Korn, and the Beatle's re-release of 'Let It Be.' |

NEGATONES ON FRONT PAGE OF NY TIMES!!! JAY GETS QUOTE OF THE DAY!!!
We are the main features in an article about home recording which appeared on the front page of the Saturday New York Times. Also Jay got the NY Times Quote of the Day (page 2, usually reserved for scientists and world leaders) for his unscientific statement "Sound is like water. You drill one hole in the wall and it'll leak right through." Full article on our media page.

SNACKTRONICA REPRINTED & NOW AVAILABLE (AGAIN)
We're happy to report that we sold out of our initial run of Snacktronica. In conjunction with this reprint we'll be doing a radio and gig campaign similar to what we did with the Heavy E.P., and we'll report on its progress. |
